The Town of Weldon owns & operates a 2.0 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) conventional surface water treatment plant. The Town utilizes the Roanoke River as our water source. The original Water Treatment Plant was built in the late 1800’s with the existing building erected in the early to mid 1930’s. The last major upgrade to the plant was in 1980.

The Town has 1.4 Million Gallons (MG) of potable water storage consisting of one (1) 0.5 MG and one (1) 0.4 MG elevated water tanks and one (1) 0.5 MG in-ground clearwell.

The Town presently provides potable water to the residents of Weldon as well as residents of Halifax and Northampton Counties.

The Town provides raw untreated and potable water to the Roanoke Valley Energy Facility. The facility utilizes the water to produce steam and electricity. 

The Town employs five (5) certified surface water treatment plant operators with a combined 48 years of experience.
